How to play GLITCH

3–6 players · Ages 8+ · 15–55 minutes. Two minutes to set up, and about ninety seconds before someone is clucking.

01

The objective

Be the first player to do both of these at once:

  • Clear your hand, and
  • Successfully follow every glitch you’re carrying on your final play.
02

Setup

  1. Shuffle the Main Deck and deal 7 cards to each player.
  2. The rest goes face-down as the draw pile.
  3. Flip the top card face-up to start the discard pile.
  4. Shuffle the Glitch and Chaos decks separately, face-down within reach.
  5. Pick a starting player.
03

A turn

Play one cardthat matches the top of the discard pile by colour or by face value. Can’t play? Draw one from the main deck. Play moves clockwise unless something reverses it.

If the card you play has an “!” on it, choose a player to receive a glitch. They draw from the Glitch deck, read it aloud, and it activates immediately.

04

Glitches

A glitch is a task you must perform at all timesuntil it’s reset. Keep your head tilted. Say “Howdy!” before playing. Talk like a robot.

Glitch cards aren’t part of your hand — keep them face-up in front of you so everyone can see what you’re supposed to be doing.

Three slots each.If you’re handed a fourth, you replace one of the ones you have.

Penalty.Caught not doing one? Draw a card from the main deck. The glitch stays active — you don’t get out of it that easily.

05

Action cards

  • Force Quit: The next player loses their turn and draws a card from the main deck.
  • Redirect: Play reverses direction. You then offer a card to the next player and take one of theirs.
  • Overclock: Play again immediately. If you can’t, draw a card from the main deck instead.
  • Reboot: Discard any 1 active Glitch affecting you. The only way out of a malfunction you’ve been stuck with.
  • Wild Card: Set the active colour to whatever you like — and a Chaos card is drawn, which changes the rules for everybody.

Winning — “System Clear”

When you play your last card, shout “SYSTEM CLEAR!” followed by its colour. Forget to? Draw 2 cards.

Everyone else then has three secondsto play a higher number in that same colour. Numbers only — no actions, no wilds. Can’t? Say “PASS.”

If nobody beats your card, you win.

If someone does beat it: you don’t have to reveal your number, and you draw one more card. Everyone who played loses that card to the discard pile but draws one from the main deck. The top of the discard pile is the new colour and number, and the game carries on.
