Our story
It started with one birthday present.
A friend was turning thirty and nothing in any shop was going to do it. So instead of buying something, we built a board game about her — forty questions only her friends could answer, her face illustrated on the box, a deck of secret messages from everyone who’d be at the table.
She cried. Then she made everyone play it twice. Then three other people asked for one.
That’s the whole origin story. There wasn’t a business plan — there was a party, and a game that turned out to be the best thing in the room.
How we make them
Four steps, and only one of them is yours.
You tell us about them
A short questionnaire and a handful of photographs. Their name, the occasion, and the specific true things only you would know — the catchphrase, the terrible parking, the order they get every single time.
10 minutes, from your sofa
An artist draws them
Your photos go to Rolly, Jipaw or Erwin — whichever artist you picked. They draw the portrait by hand, then we build the board, the box cover and the card backs around it.
The part that can't be rushed
We print it in the studio
Cards printed, cut and rounded. Board mounted. Box wrapped. On the handmade editions this all happens here in Castro Valley, in small batches, by hand.

We check it, box it, send it
Every game is played through before it leaves — cards counted, spellings checked against your answers, pawns in the bag. Then it's boxed, labelled and tracked to their door.
You get the tracking number
Not a render
These are real games, on a real table.
Every photograph on this site is of a game we actually made and actually shipped. Nothing here is a mock-up, and nothing here is generated.

Meet the creator
Anisha makes these, one at a time.
Yellow Dice Games is run out of a home studio in Castro Valley. Anisha designs every game, writes the questions from your answers, briefs the illustrator, and assembles the handmade editions herself.
That’s a real constraint, and it’s worth being honest about it: there is a limit to how many of these can exist in a week. It’s also the reason each one is any good.
