Privacy

What we collect, and what we’d never do with it.

You’re sending us photographs of people you love. That deserves a policy written in plain English rather than one designed to be skimmed past.

This policy is a solid, honest starting point — but it hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer. Have counsel check it before launch, particularly the CCPA wording and the retention periods.

What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address and a hashed password. We never store your password itself.
  • Your order: the answers you give in the questionnaire, the photographs you upload, the edition you chose, and the delivery address.
  • Payment: handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers — we only ever see the last four digits and whether the payment succeeded.
  • Basic technical logs: the pages requested and any errors, kept so the site can be fixed when it breaks.

Your photographs, specifically

  • The photographs you upload are used for one thing: making your game. They are shared with the illustrator you selected, who is contractually required to use them only for your commission and to delete them afterwards.
  • We do not use your photographs in marketing, on this website, or on social media unless you have explicitly said yes in writing. Every product photograph on this site is of a game whose recipient agreed to it.
  • We never use your photographs to train any machine-learning model, and we never sell or license them to anyone who would.
  • We keep the originals for 90 days after your order ships, in case a reprint is needed. After that they are deleted. You can ask us to delete them sooner and we will, though it means we can't reprint without you sending them again.

Why we're allowed to hold it

  • We process your order details because we need them to make and deliver the thing you bought — a contract between you and us.
  • We keep transaction records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which in California is generally seven years.
  • Newsletter emails are sent only with your consent, and every one has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes you from the list entirely.

Who else sees it

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Our shipping provider — name and delivery address, to generate the label.
  • The illustrator you selected — your photographs and the relevant answers, for the duration of the commission.
  • Nobody else. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not run third-party ad trackers on this site.

What you can ask for

  • A copy of everything we hold about you.
  • Correction of anything that's wrong.
  • Deletion of your account and its data. If an order is in production we'll need to finish or cancel it first.
  • To opt out of marketing at any time, without affecting your orders.
  • California residents have these rights under the CCPA specifically, and we extend the same rights to everyone regardless of where they live.

Cookies

  • One cookie, for keeping you signed in. It is httpOnly and expires after 30 days.
  • The name you type into the box on the homepage is kept in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device until you start an order. Clearing your browser data removes it.
  • No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, no analytics that follow you around the internet.
